new casualty wing opened

Health Minister P.K. Sreemathy teacher opened the new casualty wing on Sunday.

The renovation cost was Rs.49 lakh. Modern equipment, bought at a cost of Rs.1 crore, have been installed.

The casualty wing now has an information counter, an examination hall, separate observation rooms for men and women, a nurses’ station, a special room for patients admitted on critical conditions, an emergency operation theatre and x-ray and ECG rooms. There are specialty wings and facilities for dressing and washing and those for medicine, surgery, orthopaedic, dental and ENT departments.

Special operation theatres have been set up for orthopaedic surgery. Every patient can be observed from the nurses’ station, manned by a nursing superintendent and eight staff nurses. The wards can be reached from the casualty wing.

A public relations officer has been appointed to inform relatives of patients the status of those admitted and the details of diseases.
